I’m setting up a Mailing List to keep people in touch with developments on the CommunityNet, CommunityHost and CommunityBlog sites.
I hope that you will sign up - I promise not to send too many messages out, and the mailing lists system in use here (phpList) allows you to unsubscribe whenever you wish to.
The list can be joined here and I hope that you’ll encourage anyone you know who is interested in this sort of project to join up as well!
After 3 months I’m kind of happy to start promoting this project ‘out there’. Today I installed Wordpress 2.5.1 with no problems (I’d learnt from a previous upgrade on another blog) and I’ve also installed DokuWiki to provide the ‘Best Practice’ database.
The main activity from my perspective on this site will be to continue populating the links and reading lists, and start priming the Wiki.
Another stage of the process is to implement some Mailing List software; having recently used the phpList software for ActionForInvolvement (www.actionforinvolvement.org.uk) I’m going to stay with that tool, and use it to promote CommunityNet and CommunityHost.
I’ve also installed a Post Approval patch that will allow me to manage the requests for help and offers of help. This was something that was giving me cause for concern (stopping the spammers!) so I hope that the slight delay won’t cause problems.
